What's the difference between solid wood, finger-jointed, MDF and veneered moulding?
- Solid wood offers natural grain and the highest cost -- best for stain or clear-finish applications where the wood face is visible.
- Finger-jointed uses short lengths joined end-to-end for paint-grade applications only. The joint line is visible under clear or stain finishes and is not suitable for transparent coatings.
- MDF gives the most consistent colour and shape for painted profiles but is not suitable for damp or outdoor use.
- Veneered combines an MDF or engineered core with a real wood face, delivering a wood-look finish at a lower cost than solid wood.
Can Goodwood match an existing skirting, architrave or moulding profile I already use?
Yes. We reproduce discontinued or custom profiles from a physical sample or CAD/DWG drawing, with sample turnaround typically in 3-7 working days once the cutter is made. We've completed over 300 profile reproductions to date. If you can send us a physical sample or a dimensioned drawing, we can assess feasibility and provide a timeline during the quoting process.
Is MDF moulding suitable for bathrooms, kitchens or exterior use?
No. MDF moulding is designed for dry interior areas only. It will swell and delaminate in high-moisture environments and is not rated for exterior exposure. For bathrooms, kitchens or outdoor applications, solid wood with appropriate treatment -- or non-wood alternatives -- is more suitable. We're happy to discuss which of our product lines fits your specific application during the quoting process.
What surface finishes are available?
Primed white is our standard finish -- a white sealing primer ready for the customer to apply their own top coat on-site, which is the standard preference in the North American market. For trade and project orders we also offer custom colour matching to RAL and NCS colour systems, alongside natural wood veneer and engineered veneer finishes for veneered profiles.

Is Goodwood CARB Phase 2 compliant for the US market?
Yes. Our products are manufactured to meet CARB Phase 2 formaldehyde emission requirements for composite wood products entering the United States. If you are importing into California or any US state that has adopted CARB standards, our documentation will support your compliance requirements.
Do you provide FSC certified material?
Yes. We hold FSC Chain of Custody certification and can supply FSC-certified material on request. This is increasingly relevant for customers supplying into green building projects or retail channels with sustainability sourcing policies. Please specify FSC material as a requirement at the quoting stage.
What formaldehyde standard do you meet for the European market?
Our products meet E0/E1 formaldehyde emission standards for the European market. E1 is the standard European indoor air quality threshold; E0 represents a more stringent level. We can confirm which standard applies to a specific product line during the quoting process and can provide third-party test reports on request.
Do you provide compliance documentation with each order?
Yes. Every shipment can be accompanied by a Commercial Invoice (CI), Packing List (PL), Certificate of Origin (CO), and relevant certification documents -- including CARB and FSC CoC documentation -- alongside third-party formaldehyde test reports. Additional documentation such as phytosanitary certificates or fumigation records can be arranged where required by your destination market.

Ordering, MOQ & Logistics
Common questions about minimum order quantities, container loading, lead times and private label packaging.
What is the minimum order quantity?
Goodwood ships by full container load (FCL, 20ft or 40ft). We're not set up to serve small, sub-container quantities -- if you need a small trial quantity, a local distributor with stock on hand may be a better fit than a factory-direct order. For buyers ready to commit to container-scale volumes, our mixed-SKU loading capability means you can fill a container with a range of profiles rather than a single item.
Can I mix multiple SKUs in one container?
Yes. We support flexible mixed-SKU loading of 20-60 SKUs per container, which is how most of our distributor and importer customers order. This allows you to consolidate a broad product range into a single shipment without the handling complexity and additional cost of LCL (Less than Container Load) consolidation.
How long does production and shipping take?
Production plus ocean freight typically takes a minimum of 21-30 days depending on destination port and order complexity. If you need delivery in under 21 days, factory-direct sourcing generally isn't the right fit -- a local stocking distributor would serve that timeline better. We're transparent about this at the quoting stage rather than after order placement.
Do you offer private label or OEM packaging?
Yes. We support custom branded packaging, barcoding, coloured labelling and standardised pallet packaging for private label and OEM programmes. The finished product carries your brand rather than ours -- this is a standard service for our distributor and brand-owner customers. Full export documentation (CI, PL, CO) is included as standard alongside packaging.

Can I get a sample before placing an order?
Yes, through our paid sample programme with typical turnaround of 3-7 working days. Because our production process is set up for container-scale runs, we don't offer single free sample pieces outside this programme. The paid sample programme ensures the sample is produced under the same conditions as a production order, giving you an accurate representation of the finished product.
What if I need a discontinued profile reproduced?
We've reproduced 300+ discontinued profiles for customers whose original supplier stopped production or lost the cutting tooling, with typical sample turnaround of 3-7 working days. This is a common scenario for North American renovation buyers where matching existing installed trim is a hard requirement. Send us a physical sample or dimensioned drawing and we'll assess feasibility during the quoting process.
Is Goodwood moulding suitable for outdoor use?
No. Our current product lines -- solid wood, finger-jointed, MDF and veneered -- are manufactured for interior applications. For genuine outdoor trim, a different material category such as treated hardwood or composite profiles is a better fit than what we manufacture. We'd rather flag this limitation clearly than have a product fail in the field.
What happens if there's a quality issue with my order?
Every order goes through IQC (Incoming Quality Control), IPQC (In-Process Quality Control) and FQC (Final Quality Control) inspection stages, with batch numbers and moisture records kept for traceability. If an issue is identified after delivery, our team works from that batch record to establish the cause and resolution -- we don't start from a blank slate when a claim comes in.
